ABOUT THE FOUNDER AND LEADER OF SPIRITUAL DIRECTIONS WORKSHOPS

Reverent Dan Kenneth Phillips (Brother Dan) has been a chaplain, writer, and pastor for many decades. His book, Spiritual Journaling- God's Whispers In Daily Living, will be published in July 2011 by O-circle publishers.

Bro. Dan's non-denominational retreats have been a key to helping numerous people develop their spiritual life and to learn the power of contemplative prayer. His conferences have been in Southern Baptist Conference Centers, Catholic Retreat Centers, and he has led pastors in other denominations in helping them with the spiritual needs of their congregations.

Bro. Dan is known on the internet for his work as editor of the Thomas Merton -Monk and Poet Site and for his How to Develop A Spiritual Journal. He daily spiritual blog is read worldwide. Living in the Desert- Moments of Solitude and Silence Using the Writings of Trappist Monk Thomas Merton.

This retreat is for persons who have a passion for knowledge of the life and works of Thomas Merton. With Thomas Merton as our guide, we will discover in our own lives God's ability to touch our lives in unique ways. We will study how to hear God's voice as he speaks to us. We will sense his presence in a variety of ways.

How To Develop A Spiritual Journal

Writing can change our lives. Emphasizing the importance of writing down what God is doing in your life, this conference shows how to keep a spiritual journal. Using his own personal journals from the past two decades brother Dan shows how journals have played a key part in growth in his own personal life and how God uses journals to work through us.

Developing Your Spiritual Life contains practical guidelines for developing an effective spiritual life. Through personal stories, practical tips on spirituality, and ways of making the most of a spiritual retreat, Brother Dan takes spiritual featherweights along a journey that will - not only lead them by the still waters-but give them strength to challenge the mountaintops of life.

On Death and Dying

As a chaplain for a major hospital for ten years, Bro. Dan shares knowledge of the grief experience and how to deal with an uncertain future. For those who have experienced a major loss, whether a divorce, a job loss, or other losses, this will be a guide for living with uncertainty.
